In 1967 Montreal was host to the World Expo. In preparation for this international even the Montreal metro system was dug, with the excess earth being used to create the island on which the expo was hosted. Countless artists and architects were commissioned to create tile installations throughout the system. The playful and optimistic mood of the city at that time seems to be captured in this work, which led us to explore the idea of working with handmade tiles in the jewelry and to work with imagery of the metro system tilework via graphics that were then digitally printed on fabrics.
