The printed textile used on this piece was created in the Norwegian Wood studio using a portion of a painting entitled "Holland" by dutch painter Leo Gestel, c.1928. It is believed this painting was a rough draft of a rug design. Experimenting with cubism, expressionism, futurism and postimpressionism, he was among the leading artists of Dutch modernism.
