Montreal based artisan Kimberly Fletcher has been creating handmade leather bags in her atelier for over 3 years, but by the quality of her work you would think it has been much longer. Kimberly first collaborated with Norwegian Wood on the FW2012 collection, creating a leather and linen bag, using the "paint by number" fabric used throughout the collection. For the SS13 collection Kimberly created a full sized backpack, and mini harness backpack. For FW13 Kimberly created mini necklace pouches, a mystical saddle bag and a quilted leather clutch.
BIG. BIGGER. BETTER. Three words which are also descriptive of freelance graphic designer/artist/carbonated drink drinker Evan Melnyk. His favourite movies are your favourite movies, he enjoys music playing and awake dreaming. Most importantly, he moonlights as a body double for Prince (when he is not busy painting or fancifying products, garments, magazines and websites). Evan creates work under the name "Curse of the Multiples"
For the fall 2013 Norwegian Wood collection Elaine created a whole grouping inspired by the mystical, fantastical world of The Dark Crysta. Rings, necklaces and bracelets created in oxidized silver perfectly complemented the dark and moody collection.
Elaine Ho has been making silver jewelry, leather bags, and clothing since 2003 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Devin Barette has been working with wood for over 10years, creating beautiful pieces of furniture and homewares for Furni, Montauk and all natural toy blocks under the name Bloc Bloc. His collaboration with Norwegian Wood was his first foray into jewelry makings, and his penchant for perfectionism paid off via satiny smooth finishes and perfect geometry.
Devins most recent project is ongoing with no end in sight...he purchased a 100yr old farmhouse in the quebec countryside, which he is restoring and living in with his partner and baby boy.
The Fall 2011 collection was Inspired by burning fields, golden wheat, clusters of flax buds, endless blue skies and starry nights and had the pleasure of collaborating with Montreal artist Jen Storey. After discussing the history of the burning fields/prairie life Jen created 4 original paintings which were then digitally printed on silk and used to create 2 dresses, a decorative trim used on a blouse and a collar. Jens work encompasses her love for all things classic. From a love of color, pattern and line to the exploration of reality and the subconscious.
Montreal illustrator Paule Trudel recently collaborated with Norwegian Wood on a series of special edition hangtags for the NW mini collection for Topshop (Oxford Circus). Montreal based Marc Simard is leather artisan who creates handmade leather goods out of reclaimed and offcut leather. Good friends and studio mates, Angie and Marc have collaborated on various projects including a leather version of the cage skirt and a custom handcarved leather belt for the "Landscape Dress" part of the FW2010 Norwegian Wood collection. Most days they work about 10 ft from each other, therefore further collaborations are inevitable, and welcomed.
